The Return of the Bellingham Traverse! 

Whatcom Events is excited to announce the purchase of the Bellingham Traverse from Pacific Multisports. We will begin hosting this local multisport relay race in 2026. This community favorite has a long and meaningful history in Bellingham, and we are honored to carry its tradition forward. Similar to Ski to Sea, the Traverse celebrates endurance, teamwork and the natural beauty of Bellingham through running, biking and paddling.

Since taking over the Traverse from Recreation Northwest in late 2018, Pacific Multisports has only been able to host the event two times due to COVID, wildfires and low registration. Whatcom Events, the team behind Ski to Sea, Jr Ski to Sea, Tour de Whatcom, Mt Baker Hill Climb and Trails to Taps Relay, will bring their experience and professionalism to return this event to the community. More details about course updates, registration and volunteer opportunities will be shared in the new year. The website will remain bellinghamtraverse.com but will not be live until the end of the week as we transition it over to our server.  

The Traverse is scheduled for Saturday August 29 2026, and registration will open in March 2026.
